Got my D90 in November and am really enjoying myself! I like the results I'm getting so far, but would love some feedback. Thanks for your time.

Thanks Mark! I like #1 as well. Took a few shots at different angles. Looking at the grass at 100% is very cool and I tried some closer crops, but I feel like I lose some context when I crop it that takes away from what I like about the wider shot.

Example:

I can't tell what's better. Maybe leave well enough alone.

(no pun intended :er:)

Great shots, you definitely have the technical side of things nailed. Colour, focus and exposure (except #4) are all very good.

Is that the kit lens? Those pics are so sharp I'm trying to get that sharpness.

awesome pics! the d90 is one of my potential next cameras, yeah which lens did you use?

Hi - thanks for the comments! Much appreciated!

Lenses as follows:

1. 70-200mm f/2.8 VR1

2. 70-200mm f/2.8 VR1

3. 70-200mm f/2.8 VR1

4. 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6 (kit lens)

5. 70-200mm f/2.8 VR1

6. 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6 (kit lens)

7. 70-200mm f/2.8 VR1

8. 70-200mm f/2.8 VR1

The kit lens is very sharp, but slow. I like it a lot so long as I'm shooting under the right conditions and I'm not going for bokeh.

Every lens I have has given me enough very sharp shots to know that when I'm soft, it's my fault.

Here's a couple more using the kit lens in case you want some more examples:

You can get the VR1 used for $1600. I got mine new for just under $1900.
The VR2 version is $2300.

It's a nice lens. It's heavy and big though. No stealth street photography with that sucker.
You also need to be pretty far away to lock focus. It's not a walk around lens and I do find myself wanting to leave it out of the bag at times.

First time I can say this, but, it was a pleasure looking through all 8 photos.

Well done!

Hey everyone, thanks for the comments. I don't get much opportunity to show my stuff to people.

@ Seekwence - Rockport/Gloucester/Annisquam are great places to shoot as is any place up and down the coast of NE.

@ FattyMcJ - Thank you for such a nice comment.

:D
