If the lighting is bright enough, I would go with a 70-200/4. I did.
The f/4 lens is HALF the weight of the f/2.8 lens. I'm a senior citizen, so weight is a major factor for me.
If you are shooting for HOURS, the lighter f/4 lens will be easier on your arms.
If the lighting is poor, then you are stuck with the heavy f/2.8 lens, and use it on a monopod.
My preference, would be to go with a Nikon lens.
With firmware updates, you don't know if a 3rd party lens will still work after a FW upgrade. Then you have to deal with the 3rd party mfg to update the FW in the lens. Just a hassle that I would rather avoid.
I would go with a Tamron lens over a Sigma for one reason, the direction that the zoom ring turns.
If you zoom with muscle memory, as I do, the Sigma zoom ring turning in the opposite direction is confusing. I've lost MANY shots because I turned the Sigma zoom ring the wrong way.
Sigma does not make a 70-200/4 lens, Tamron does. Weight advantage to Tamron.
The Tamron 70-210/4 is a nice lens. The forward position zoom ring concerned me, but in use, it is a non-issue, for me. Easily turned with my fingers.
