A funny Meerkat and a posing bird

Took the kids to the zoo on a great spring day and captured some good photos.

1) This meerkat was too funny just laid back relaxing and looking around.

The second photo is really nice and sharp, but I gotta say--it seems really ODD that a *zoo* would just put a basket like that out for the bird.

Thank you. I know, it was weird to see it too but this was the first building that we went in and I just had to shoot this one.

I like the Meerkat. I get to shoot them myself and he sure looks like he is on strike. Normally they are so alert and all propped up.

Thanks Rick. Yeah most of them were on alert but this one for some reason wasn't. We caught them at noon when the town tests the alert system and they were all looking around trying to see what the sound was.

Funny! I wonder if maybe the habitat, aka enclosure, aka cage, aka pen the bird is in just does not offer the exact, right kind of nest-building material that bird species needs??? Maybe it's something simple like that? I dunno...I was at this small zoo in Missouri once, and they had a chimpanzee who had a '68 Camaro as a play structure....no doors on it though, and the hood was up, and a worklight was hanging from underneath, and his ole lady was hanging around, smoking cigarettes and wearing the skankiest-looking Daisy Dukes and an itty-bitty tank top...that's a craaaaazy state, Missouri...
