Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good film scanner. Just a beginner or decent one, nothing professional or anything just trying to spend around $100. Also another question, I keep seeing people mention not to take to your film to local drug stores etc. The closest lab/shop to me is 2 hours away and was wondering if it's really that bad or if there is a send-away service. Thanks.

Decent scanners are not that bad in price these days. I think my Epson was less than $200 and it does a fantastic job.

Richard Photo Lab.

They'll do a perfect job developing and a bang up job scanning it too.

LEAFSCAN 45!!!!!!

(kidding. though sentimental value should be worth something)

Don't take this the wrong way because I love your work and respect your input on this site, heck, I consider us internet pals just from reading all your posts, but..

I know you LOVE Richard Photo Lab, but not everyone is a film shooting pro with the budget to send every roll of film off to a pro lab.. a cheap scanner is essential for hobbyists these days.

On that note... Personally, i'd save a little longer and get a V700.

Try a plustek scanner should be a good one to start lots on eBay. Costco are not bad for film processing .
