a290 to D5100

So i currently have the Sony a290 and i'm looking to level up to a better camera, but because i'm only 14 I have limited funds. I was thinking something like the Nikon D5100. Should i stick with the Sony until i can buy a more expensive camera? (ex. D80 or D90) Or should i go for the Nikon D5100?

If you dont plan on doing video much, i would get a d90 for all the feature it has over the d5100

^As ghache already mentioned^ the D5100 has more video functions. I am not interested in video so the D90 is good for me and I believe it is cheaper than the D5100.

D5100 <---video is its one strong point.

D90/D7000 blows it away. Google a comparison.

The Nikon D90 (body only) has gone up in price since I bought mine (Amazon.co.uk). I got a bargain

The big disadvantage of D5100 is lack of built-in auto-focus motor. Some classic Nikon lens cannot be used on D5100 for auto-focus. D90 is very good camera. Recommend D90 for your limited budget. Here you are a few links for reference.
