AC Socket with Light Stand Adapter Question

I can't see you getting anything to fit unless you adapt them, but as soon as you start adding snoots and grids you are reducing the power of your light which will not be very strong to start with

Thanks - I was looking for a continuous circle of light - like a snoot would provide.

I use a couple of those. The hole in the middle is obvoiusly for the reflector shaft.

For other than that, there are accessories that fit onto the STROBE unit it's self, you can get snoots, barn doors, etc. Just have to get the ones that fit on whichever strobe unit you put in there. They call them "universal fit" accessories.

If you put a photo CFL in there, then it might become a challenge to use a modifier other than the intended umbrella. Using incandasent or halogen you even be more of a challenge becasue of the heat.

If thats the plan, there are some on ebay that you can build into soft boxes...etc.

Good luck with your shooting.

Thanks, radiorickm - I found some reflector CFL bulbs by Alzo - I may be able to fashion a snoot to fit the outer rim of the reflector and get what I need.

I had an idea to shoot a row of items, offset angle, and was thinking of lighting the row with a continuous "round" spotlight type of beam. Kind of like a stage spot. Something I can do with a flash and a snoot I'm sure. But I had these socket adapters laying around .... :)

Wow - well I really like that but I'm not experienced enough to know what you did. What's going on there? Looks like there may be a square snoot or grid aimed at the center of the plate? :)

Open snoot on fork and a beauty dish with sock for a little fill
