You think I would of learned from my Lightroom 4 upgrade that Lightroom 3 had to be active to upgrade. Well I cleaned off my C drive today and Lightroom 4 as well. I went into my Adobe to reload 4 and then 5 only to realize that neither 3 or 4 was in my account, only 5. My question is where did they go? I understand that 3 was 2009 and 4 was 2011 ??? All I have is the lic key for LR 3. Adobe is not going to help me, only push me to the Cloud. If that is the case so long Lightroom by by Adobe!

I used to use Apeture in the beginning. What are non LR folk using?

Ok, well have you actually contacted adobe? Or is the "adobe won't help me" merely an assumption?

I have yet to speak t0 anyone so yest it is a well founded assumption 100% based ob the upgrade fro 4 to 5 which was the same issue. That is wha I meant by you think I would have learned. Totally my fault. This time will be worse as both 3 and 4 is gone, last time it was 3 only and we had a hell of a time getting it back in my account.

Based on when I did the same going from 4 to 5 so without 3 and 4 I am done for...It would highly unlikely they would give me a full copy without a 3.

can you not install LR3 and then upgrade to 5?

Lemme' see if I got this straight: You cleaned off your C drive, and Lightroom 4, and Adobe gets the blame?

That's funny...

I am sorry I posted my frustrations I forgot how TPF can attack. It was/is a case of my serial numbers not appearing in My Adobe. I knew the path to upgrade to LR5. I was just saying that 3 and 4 purchases were not showing.
I had 5 as an upgrade that needed 4. I knew I had to download 5 again when I cleaned my HD. It never has been an issue until now. I was planning on putting on a clean copy of 5 as I have before.

I will figure it out with Adobe today.

tbh, it sounds as if you screwed yourself.

Have to agree. You can't blame Adobe because you're inept at managing what you have on your computer.

My question is where did they go?
We can't tell you where they went.
A basic procedure for computer files and software is making backup copies.
Do you have backups?

You can guess, or you can contact Adobe and get a definitive answer.

But if you didn't register your LR 3 and/or LR 4 with Adobe you can't expect Adobe to be of any help.

Ok, well for myself I wasn't trying to "attack", merely pointing out that it's hardly "cricket" to slam Adobe for being of no help when you never even bothered to contact them and ask for help, you simply decried them without ever giving them a chance to respond or do a thing about your situation. Having worked both customer service and computer help desk before believe me, it gets pretty exhausting dealing with people who call in with a serious attitude and start giving it to you with both barrels because they did something to screw up their own system and somehow that is your fault.

So word to the wise - when you do call in be polite and professional. Do that and odds are good whoever you talk to will probably bend over backwards to help you. Stomp your feet, scream and yell, and I guarantee you they will do only the absolute minimum that are required to do to help you. And that's not just Adobe, that's pretty much anywhere.

I installed LR4 on a fresh build - I entered my LR4 upgrade key, and since it was an upgrade, it asked for my LR3 key, too. Once I entered these, it installed just fine. I kept the emails from Adobe with my keys, btw -- based on my experience with other software vendors, it's a happy bonus if *they* keep *your* keys for you in *their* system.

If you haven't called Adobe to explain what's happened, I'd consider that to be the next reasonable step.

I just got off the phone with Adobe and a very helpful Adobe tech saw the problem and is trying to locate the issue and apologized. She certainly was more helpful than the last person I had spoke with in the past. I am confident was she gets approval I will get things resolved. I am always very courteous. I jumped the gun based on past experiences with Adobe.

I am in the process of contacting those I have met on TPF before I unsubscribe. It seems to be the veterans whose high and mighty attitudes eventually drive people away. Well done, it worked again. Adios
