So that thread with the staged dead person was moved to the adult sub forum or whatever it's called, but what else would? More specifically, I have a shot I got that does contain some blood as the focal point, but if it's moved to that subforum, then I wouldn't be able to read what people say about it.

Isn't that what the 'Dark Side' gallery is for...? Or can we not have blood on the forum either now?

Dang it, I've been here 6 months and I'm still learning new things about the site.

So the real question now: How do I get to said Dark Side? :)

Go to the main page that shows all of the sections. It's in the 'Galleries' section, near the bottom of it, I think.

Yeah, I found it about 2 minutes after I posted that.

Thanks anyways! :)

It's a subsection of the Themes section. Easy to miss the way the forums are displayed on a phone...

I still don't understand why the thread you asked about in this thread (the one with the dead person) was moved to the 'Adult' section instead of Dark Side though. If it's what I'm thinking of, I don't think it had any nudity - or am I thinking of something else?

You know, it might have been deleted instead of being moved. Although being deleted doesn't make any more sense. :meh:

Probably because someone who is "sensitive" reported it.
It bothered me that that decision was made.

If it was moved, it could be that someone may have considered it "NSFW". It's not so much that nudity etc is in there, but its classified as "NSFW", "Not Safe for Work", not so much as "adult" or "nude". So there is that possibility.

Or it could have been deleted and I'm wrong.

PM a moderator and I'm sure they will explain for you.

Aw, I don't know what you guys are talking about, I want to see the dead person thread :(

I think it was Ballistics thread, if I remember correctly.

My problem is that it's not real. We can't post fictional death images, but we can post dead bird photos, dead opossum (roadkill) photos, and even photos of dog crap which had no artistic merit whatsoever.

The system. She is ****ed up.

The choice to move that specific thread (the one with blood made by Ballistics) was made by the admin of the site as opposed to a moderator. The admin have been clear that they want the forum as a whole to retain a family friendly atmosphere - that is to say that content posted should be suitable for those of all ages.

In this we do have to accept that there is some degree of personal interpretation going on and that different people will view different kinds of content in a different light. I have raised the subject before, the result of which was the re-opening of the NSFW subsection under the restricted access method we currently have (ie its a subscriber section). However its very much a situation where we have to take each individual photo on a photo by photo case.

In general I would not expect a photo of animals eating, killing, hunting to fall to the status of being moved into the adult subsection. When it comes to blood and horror with human subjects its an area where opinions might divide as to what is and what is not suitable on the forums. Certainly we prefer to keep threads open rather than close them, so yes threads would be moved into the adult section even if the poster could not then read the results (normally they would get a pm about this move as well).

In general if you are ever in doubt please do send a pm to a moderator or admin to ask for clarification - though please do remember that sometimes even these might be overruled (we have a moderator/admin team and whilst we do aim to all work to the same standards, as said, differences of opinion and background might mean you get slightly different answers). Personally if I were asked and were in any doubt I would forward the query onto the admin or just throw it up for debate in the mods section before coming back to a user with a firm answer.

I can understand their point of view, and understand that they own this place and they get to make the rules.

I wonder if there is a way in the vBulletin software to allow the OP of a thread to see it if it is in a restricted section...? Obviously, creating threads in a restricted section by 'non-authorized' users would not be allowed - but isn't it a little unfair to block someone from their own thread?

I, personally, would prefer deletion over a move to a section I have no access to. I mean, if I can't see my own thread, why would I have even started it?

I kind of doubt that there will be an easy to implement a way to allow the OP to see their thread after the move ... maybe it would be best to ask the OP what they would like done - move, or delete. If I'm not mistaken, Ballistics is a supporting member, so this isn't really an issue for him - but if it were my thread, I would rather it be deleted than kept alive somewhere that I can't see it.

OIIIIIO you present a very fair point. I suspect any attempt to work around things to allow limited access to the subscriber sections might be one of those things that isn't easily practical with the software. However I've honestly no idea about the background workings of the system - so I can't give a final word on that.

Your point about the thread moving and questioning is very valid though - certainly I can see the justification that people want to read their own threads and that its unfair to have things spoken about almost behind their back.

He left a note that said he was tired of working all day, flying from job to job and getting paid in birdseed and horse-sh$t.
but the gun was nowhere to be seen - and the note was typed and unsigned.
my suspician is ----------------- fowl play.
