I am preparing to invest in some new lights, and am hoping some of you may have recommendations. Here's what I've been using: cheapo reflector-dish type lights (100 watt) peppers bare sockets wrapped round with various things- black wrap, china balls, etc. These have been working out just fine until now. I plan to start doing color photography, and I need more light. I want to buy something reasonably (haha, I know) priced in a tungsten fresnel light. I am looking at the Lowel Pro-Light, which I've used before with satisfactory results, and it seems to be the most affordable solution. Ideally I would buy Arri lights, but they appear to be out of my price range. Thanks for any suggestions.
Lowell is a great light. Pricey, but it is not like they break. I use Smith Victor. After 7 years they are still holding on. That is saying a lot because I am super careless with them. Plus they are more reasonably priced then Lowell. Arri is like the Cadillac of Tungsten lights. I wish I could afford them as well. Maybe someday... If you really want to get silly check out Mole Richardsen lights.
