Hey guys,

I recently got back from Arizona where we visitied the Tucson Pima Air and Space Museum At the musuem, you can go on a bus tour of the AMARC storage facility. This is where the US government stoes airplanes either to be put into service in the future or simply to be scrapped. Unfortunately, nobody is allowed out of the bus, so all pictures where taken through the window, plus I had to work around the raindrops! Overall, I think they turned out well. Black and white really suits these pictures. It's so sad to see this historic planes awaiting their demise.

nice ones brett,

i do love old aircraft, and i love this tribute! black and white lends itself quite nicely here, and i love the fact you got a grey sky, thats a good combo for a 'graveyard'. The pics that stand out for me are numbers 1, 3, 4.... and its a toss up for me between 3 and 4, i love both of those shots!

thanks for sharing those, they are excellent - i would have never guessed you took those thru a window!

How interesting to be finding your photo contribution here and now, when we had a documentary on German TV only the other day on this "aircraft graveyard" in the Arizona desert. Some of the aircraft is only temporarily put out there, though, so not all of them are doomed, right?

Yes, I do agree that b+w is the right "colour" for these (am I contradicting myself in this sentence... ah well, you'll understand me, all the same, I hope) - and I like the first one with all the wings in one line. Only would I like to see some of the ground cropped, that's all. No.3 looks "sad", although the planes are just carefully "laid down on one side", but this gives them a sad look. In this one, I'd suggest you take away 1cm of sky...

No.2 appeals to me, of course, because of it's detail and your focus on a detail. Nice composition.

With the many photos you contributed, I'm afraid I've forgotten my thoughts about the other ones... and now I am too lazy to scroll down...

Thanks for the advice. I did some crop work on them, and they do look a lot better.

Yup, a lot of these planes have a chance of going back into service. A lot are sold to foreign countries.
