AIS Lens Question

i just purchased a used Nikon 50mm f/1.4 ais lens. At first glance, it seemed fine. But I soon discovered that on my D7000, in aperture priority mode, neither the aperture nor the shutter speed works. In manual mode, only the shutter speed works. Is this the correct operation of this lens? Thanks in advance...M.

Are you just tossing the lens on and using it, or have you entered the lens in as a non-CPU lens? (Page 159 of the manual)
