Through a family member, I was given a behind-the-scenes tour of the Chicago Field Museum's archives. These pictures were from the "oversized" room, which houses artifacts that are too big for anywhere else and are not on display. So, you won't see this stuff anywhere else!
1. Cool Egyptian hieroglyphics. I love the vibrance of the color, still visible after 3000 years.
2. More hieroglyphics. Less color here, but the shapes really stand out. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe this is a recipe for bird soup.
3. This is the ornate corner of an Etruscan sarcophagus. The Etruscans were the predecessors of the Romans. I love the detail.
