I really like the angle of #1, but the fact the legs are cut off detracts from the shot, IMO.

Its a shame - he was on a platform and I just managed to grab the picture just before we moved onto the cheetahs..

How about a crop of just its head area? Bet that would work well, with the way he's gazing off into the distance.

I have never done this before so here goes - I used MS Office Picture Manager

Your second edit is excellent! Are you using MS Picture Manager to edit your shots? You might consider investing in Adobe Elements 6 or something similar. You could really add to the quality and appearance of your shots.

I like the original better...i think you lost to much details on and around.
Thats my opinion though.
