Another hello

My name is Ben and I live in Minnesota. I have been casually into photography for many years, but was never very serious about it or tried to learn in a systematic way. I am going on a trip to the Galapagos Islands in a year, which has inspired me to get a new camera (Nikon D3100) and to try to really learn something. I feel I have already made improvement (it's been 3 or 4 months), but I know I have a lot to learn. Any and all advice is welcome!!!

.If I were giving myself advice it would be. Go out a shoot a lot every day till you leave. become really comfortable with the camera. If you plan a special lens. Then get it ASAP. Give yourself time to get use to your gear. See if you can read other photogs accounts of that trip. Have the best time ever. Ed
