Anyone Know Video?

I'd like to get into video to make some short films or a short documentary. I've worked a little bit with final cut pro and made some short movies for my school classes and it has really caught my interest.

My problem: I really have no idea what camera to get. I'd like to get something that is fairly decent. I guess it would be in the prosumer range.
Searching for used cameras i have found the Sony DSR-PDX10. I guess that would be the quality range i'm looking for.

Anyone have any ideas for what camera to get? 500-1000 range would be my limit?


P.S. i signed up on a video forum but its been like 4 days and i havent been accepted so i couldnt wait and asked here lol

Although quite old in terms of technology, my Canon XL-1 and XL-1s do quite a decent job. For your budget, you can get one on Ebay.

Look for a used DXV-100 (with the fewer the hours the better) Ebay or Craigslist.
