Aperture Albums, good or bad?

I am thinking of ordering an album from aperture. I heard mixed reviews about the quality. What should I expect. I have version 2.12. I have color calibrated my monitor. DO they use differnent printer, I hear the quality varies from place to place, is there any truth to that?
