I always forget, Isit a lower apeture for dark places, and higher for bright places?

Smaller number = larger aperture = more light through the lens

Larger number = smaller aperture = less light through the lens

f/1.4 is a larger aperture than f/22

not really....most of the time aperture is chosen to give different DOF.....or to yeild desired shutter speed.........but in general......you would need large aperture (small f number) to get better exposure in dark places.....for bright places......it depends on how faster you can adjust your shutter speed and you adjust the aperture according....less limiting compare to dark situation....you can use both large and small aperture in bright situation most of the time
