For the members currently in America and eligible to vote, who are you currently standing behind in the 2008 presidential race? Please explain the reasons and why you stand behind them and what issues are most important to you.

In answer to my own question, I am currently standing behind Fred Thompson. I think the fact that he is not a career politician is a bonus and his views on my hot button issues are aligned. The issues that are most important to me are, immigration, foreign policy, constitutional rights, and limited federal govt.

I think that all illegal immigrants should be purged from our country and that they should take the legal steps to become a citizen if they want to be here. I believe that not only does illegal immigration destroy the fabric of America but it is killing our economy.

I personally think that we need to continue our occupation in Iraq. The country was a national risk and will become a national risk again if we leave without an established govt. there. I also think we need to take stronger action in Iran and assert our support for Israel.

I am a huge constitutional proponent. I think that we need less gun laws and more state power. I despise socialist policy such as welfare, universal healthcare, and other socialist policies.

I enjoy a good political debate and hope to learn from this thread. I hope this thread has the ability to stay civil.

Mods if this is not allowed here please let me know and delete the thread. I am in no way trying to cause trouble I am just curious about the members political views.
