Thanks Lost Prophet and JTHPhoto.
JTHPhoto, I think these are Teddybear/Jumping cholla (opuntia bigelovii), just south of Oatman, Az. on the way to Topock. This was the last shot I took after ditching a geology class for a day and doing my own thing. The good stuff, was on the backcountry roads next to the Black Mountains between Golden Valley and Sitgreaves Pass. There were several transition areas that had these, ocotillo, Mojave yucca, beavertail and several others all in one shot. Amazing, especially with the insane mountains in the background. Great place to be in the morning if you ever get out that way.
