True. But the corners can be a bit of a problem. Quite a bit of a problem, from what I've seen. But, who uses the corners very much anyhow? Just don't use it for extremely important video.

Video don't actually need much resolution. They actually benefit from softer lenses because they reduce moire.

That seems like a sensor problem to me. :p

But, vignetting at lower apertures to get the shallow DOF would still be a problem. Especially with video since it is harder to fix (if possible at all).

True. I would definitely recommend a prime lens (they have less of those problems) for video shooters unless they are those rich people who is able to buy those focus-focal length fixed lenses.
 
Like I previously said,
You should get a Nikon 18-200mm and Sigma 17-50mm. Use the Nikon when you need to zoom and the Sigma when you need light.
 
I want to add another option. If you don't need razor DOF, or the very best of picture quality, the Sigma 50-500mm (preferably OS version) could be something to look into as well.
