I am looking to attach a sb-900 to a tripod. Can anyone recommend a good mounting bracket. I have found a few but the reviews say they get loose. The tripod is a beginner tripod that is used for video cameras that have the 1/4" screw. Im sure there is an adapter where the flash will mount into a piece of plastic that fits into the tripod head.

Didnt your flash come with a little plastic stand? It should have s female screw insert underneath it. If not you can buy stuff from cowboy studio. They are relatively cheap.

It should have come with the AS-21 stand. If not, now you have the part number.

i bought the sb-900 second hand, all it came with was the flash and the carrying case, thanks for the part number i will look into it.

You can get no-name AS-21s on eBay for a couple dollars. Just make sure it comes with a metal screw mount. Even Nikon's is made of plastic. I have replaced 3 of mine with ebay ones. And they seem to be just fine.
