attempting self portraits

I needed some new pictures for profile pictures on my blog, etc, so yesterday I thought I'd try doing some self-portraits. In the afternoon, the light comes in one of the windows in my room just right, so I thought I'd see if I could use it. I normally don't like pictures of me, but out of about fifty that I tried, I found a few that I thought were acceptable... mostly I just really liked the lighting. I think in the last one, the sun must have gone behind a cloud for a moment. Let me know what y'all think, or what I could do differently next time, etc.

You have a very nice smile. Don't be frightened to show your face.
Next time I'd try to reflect more light into the shadows. They're pretty harsh at the moment.

the first is great but the last one is perfect, full of character which in my opinion is what self-portraits should have.

I can't help it. There's nothing more frustrating than seeing a girl not recognise how good she looks. I don't mean that in a dirty old man way (I'm not old and only borderline a man). It's just so depressing. I just want to pick them up and give them a cuddle.

The same holds true for men, they just tend to be less vocal about it. I have several male friends (and a fiancee, too) who say that they aren't good looking and no matter what I say don't believe otherwise.
