Todat I am going to try to do a b&w picture of my 3 year old daughter. It will be from the waist up. I am using my white wall as the background. The camera i will be using is a Nikon D3000. I do not have any off flashes or anything else. I have natural light coming in from my french doors and a window.I also will be shooting in raw. What i am asking for is how to set my camera? How should i set my white balance? What are some good poses? Im trying to get a 30's 40's look and feel to the pic. My daughter has these sunglasses that just scream classic. Any suggestions are welcome.

Just shoot this in color and then convert with post processing.

If you shooting in RAW, white balance is not an issue as it can be changed after the fact; but if the subject is in the light from the window and only the window, use auto, or sunny. Use an fstop of no more than 5.6 so you will have shallow DOF.

Use google for posing styles
