Baby boy portrait shot with DIY setup

Hi,

I am doing photography for a while and love to do DIY setup shots , yesterday I tried photoshoot with my baby boy

I used three speedlight and 50mm F2

one on left one right directly on V shape large sheet in front of boy and one hitting background

please comment and suggest be how more I can improve here

In the first there is some perspective distortion and the DOF is so shallow that parts of his face are OOF, making this one not nearly as pleasant as the second.

The lighting looks very flat too me.

I think with a helpful, cute model like this, you can do better.

As you can see by the two large catch lights, the photographer is using two large shadow boxes to provide a soft fairly even light.
My guess is that these are powerful enough that he can use small enough aperture to get an adequate depth of field so that any OOF spots aren't annoying.

I think your last shot would be terrific if it didn't go oof into spots that are important.
