Ballet Performance - question

I am going to talk to a ballet instructor about photographing their upcoming performance, but I was wondering how this is normally charged.

In this type of situation, does the person in charge pay you for your time to be there? Or do you just get paid by selling prints to the performers parents?

I believe they want pictures during the performance, and have some posed pictures before hand. The age group is mostly kids.

I appreciate any advice.

Both, if you can. Your time should be paid and your prints should be paid. Know what? Likely some of the best pictures you could possibly get are either before or after a regular class. You would need to make a deal with the people that run the school, though, to do this.
