All of these lenses are on ebay as we speak. I was wondering which lens would I get the most bang for my buck?

Nikon......
ED-IF AF-S VR 105mm 2.8G,
18-105 AF-S DX 3.5-5.6 ED VR,
24-120 AF-S VR G IF-ED 3.5-5.6

Tamron.....
SP 272E 90MM 2.8 AF Di

Sigma......
1:2 Macro AF 90MM 2.8
w/life size attachment.
BIN for $198 + $21 shipped from Japan though?

Any or all input/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

Also from B&H:
Tamron AF 80-210 4.5-5.6 AF-D fro $60,

18-200 3.5-5.6 XR Di-II LD
Aspherical (IF) for $180.

sorry to be such a pain in the A$$, but I'm new to the lenses. Thanks again.

What type of photography are you interested in?

Sorry about that. I shoot a lot of family, animals, outdoors, and would like to experiment w/macro a bit more. I have a d3100 w/the 18-55 kit lens, and just got a used 50mm 1.8.

If you want to get into macro, that Nikkor ED-IF AF-S VR 105mm 2.8G micro rocks! great lens! Don't know the others!

I have the kit 18-105 and actually takes really sharp photos....

Any of the Nikkor lenses will do a good job in most conditions. Macro/micro lenses are specialty lenses for close-up work. They're fine for other types of photography as well, but if you're not going to use the macro aspect, then you're paying a lot of money for something you won't get any benefit from. Approach it from this aspect: What is it about your 18-55 that you don't like, or how is it not meeting your needs right now?

It's not that I don't like my 18-55, I actually like it a lot. I would like more distance though.....maybe I should look into a prime instead?

Have you considered the Nikon 55-200 VR? Adorama had them last week for $147.

The 70-300 ED VR is far superior to 55-200.... and for not much more. It can be had for around $400 used. Amazon.com: Used and New: Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR Nikkor Zoom Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Not much more? Wow, that's almost triple. You're probably right about getting what you pay for. There was a 70-300 in the buy & sell forum. Look for forum member jritz. He's selling a D7000 and that thread may be easier to find.
