Barrel distortion

Hello fellow photographers. I have a Nikon Coolpix P1000 one year now, and recently I realized it has lens barrel distortion when I shoot wide. I know how to fix it via RawTherapee witch I use but I'm wandering if it's covered by the warranty for substitution of the camera entirely.

It is very likely there is nothing out of spec with the camera unless this is a new problem and not something that you had not really noticed before.
Wide lenses tend to distort the edges of the frame with the most extreme example being a fisheye lens.
