Best lens for outdoor portrait shooting?

Hello,

I have a Nikon D5100 and I am looking for a reasonably priced lens that will work well for shooting portraits outdoors (sometimes in a studio). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

50mm 1.8 or 1.4 if you don't already have it is a good lens to start with.

sigma 50mm 1.4, nikon 85mm 1.4 AF-S, sigma/nikon 70-200.

in your case you want something with the motor inside the lens or you will be stuck with manual focus..
