CC, I think you are right on this one. I have just not seen any that are quite that dark, that is why I was bit hesitant.

I have similar birds that nest in the wetlands behind my house. I've heard people call them Lesser Herons and Little Blues...me, no know for sure but suspect the book is much more right than the local yokels ID system which is shoot first, guess later. Heathens, every one! :er:
