blank slide film?

Hey all. . .I'm new to this forum and am just getting back into film photography. I've never shot slide film until now, and recently shot a roll of Lomography X-Pro ISO 100 in a Diana F+ camera. I had the roll cross-processed at a professional lab.

When I got the film back, the majority of it was completely blank--not overexposed, but like it was never exposed. It occurred at random throughout the roll, too. There would be a long stretch of blank, then a few shots, then blank, etc.

What would cause this? Any ideas or past experience?

Forgot to remove the lens cap perhaps?

With my cloudy thinking sometimes, it's entirely possible I left the lens cap on!

Forgive my potentially stupid questions--I thought leaving the lens cap on would still expose the film. . .these are completely blank. Or would the cross-processing cause any dark areas to appear blank?

The film will not be exposed with the lens cap on unless you are using a
transparent lens cap.

Cross processing alone will not cause blank frames.

When you look through the viewfinder of Diana type cameras you are not looking
through the lens. If the cap is still on, you will see the scene but the film won't.
You must remember to remove the lens cap before taking pictures.

Slide film right? With negative film if the negs are completely blank then the fixer washed everything away because it was not exposed. Slide. Reversal. It was exposed to light.

It was cross processed slide film = processed as neg film.
