I have now learned that these are the blossoms of a "mock cherry" ... I wasn't sure what it was, that tree is at the bus stop here in my village, and all I know is that it does not bear fruit --- however these blossoms and also the colour of the leaves are so similiar to the ONE of our two plum trees in the front garden... and we know our (just past) blooming trees bear fruit and they are tiny, yellow plums that always get eaten by the birds before they are ripe...
