blown out?

Does the kitties arm look blown out here? I've been working on it with NX2, just using a color control point to try and fix it (it was VERY blown out in the original) but I'm not sure I have it right. Any other suggestions would be great too.

^ yes, adorable kitty! The arm doesn't look blown out but it doesn't show any detail. That's what happens if the area is blown out in the original capture and you darken it in pp - you just get a uniform light gray, or some other color if you change the color as well, but still no gradation in color or lightness. For a very small area, this works OK, but here the area is too large and too central to the image. Nothing to do but reshoot unless you can paste in some fur from another image.

I'll try that...but can't reshoot, they aren't that small anymore!
