Just FYI he could fly quite well and proved it a few seconds later. Mom was also sitting on a branch a few feet away keeping a close eye on everything.

Thanks guys. He was not at all happy so I can only guess he hasn't been out of the nest for very long. Full feathers and he could fly just fine though so I doubt this is his first day out. He was sure squawking for someone to bring him something to eat though
