Buying my first dslr and need advice

I am buying my first dslr soon. I'm so conflicted on what I want. I need something that will take great action shots. I have dogs and kids all around. I was looking at the Canon t4i. Do I actually need 5 shots per frame to get good clear action shots? Please any help would be so appreciated!!
