C&C: First pics with my new camera

Just picked up a 60D with the 18-200 kit lens. Getting a lot of crappy pics , but i am having a great time learning. Any advice?

I think the background was too clear in this one

Thought the other flower in the background might be interesting, but turned out a bit distracting

Biggest advice is keeping your horizons horizontal. When you take pictures of streets make sure the image is straight, #1 and #4 are kinda crooked. #3 is probably my favorite with a tighter crop around the trees on the left side and less foreground. It's a shame #2 has the other plant in the background, I like the composition and the rose looks interesting, almost like it's transparent or glowing.

With those night shots i was using either a cheapo old tripod with minimal adjustment or non at all, trying to find things to prob against lol. Already have a nice tripod on order.
