Removed some power lines from above, Is it just me or does the sky have a pinkish hue to it?

I know i cut his butt and feet off Im not sure what I was trying to do with this one but I liked the line of the fence.

#2 has some cool potential. May less DoF. I like how the fence line takes you to the horse.

#1) The ladies face is squinty with a rather peculiar expression. Would have been nice to see them both looking at the camera. Just my opinion but I love contrast :) maybe add more to this picture? kinda a bleek bw conversion.

#2) Way too much going on in that pick. Put the horse on one side of the barn as ur backdrop. Put the horse near the tree's for the backdrop. Yea the fence is kinda a nice leading line right to the horse. But the composition in this photo is not the best. Your eye is drawn to the fence post then the horse then the barn's... Plus typical with body shots like this one. You want to include the whole body. You cut his/her rump and tail off. Seems a tad overexposed also?

What were your settings on your camera for these?

Just my 2cents.... Keep on shooting :)

#1 ladies expression not appealing
#2 looks a lot like a snapshot... as another user pointed out a much more shallow DOF would have helped along with the leadings lines of the fence. But the background gives it a very unprofessional feel. On the other side of the horse and was the background better?

I dont know about you but I would have told her to ride the horse :)

I was pretty much just pointing and shooting. My Nikon has been sitting in a bag collecting dust for a few years, I pulled it out that day because she had invited me to come and ride. I will probably post some more from that day. I was a bit rushed before because the little one was having issues staying down for his nap. I have a really BAD habit of just pointing and shooting something i need to work on.

Lol I def know how it goes, with horse's, photography, and little ones :) I got all of thee above :) A day at the farm when I have 10 spare mins to shoot is a day that is few and far inbetween :)

The main thing I shot In high school, when I was in photography class was my horse, or other things from around the barn. I have what I think at least are some really neat shots from that day. I spent the better part of today ( while he slept) tossing the bad ones and now I need to find the time to tweak the ones I like that need tweaking. I have tons of pics of this woman and this horse just because the only time I ever was able to shoot over the past few years were days she invited me to horse shows, or over to her barn for a ride.

So I said I would post some more from the day so here are a few, Little man got shots today so he is being one cranky beast so i may not get all the ones up I want to.

Personally I REALLY like this one, but thats probably just me.

I like this bunch better then the first. A lot of people will ask this so Ill be the first to ask when you have more than 1 photo it's easier for people to cc them when they are numbered :)

1) I too like it :) Dont know why but I do.
2) I think your BW conversion could be stronger if you added more contrast. But I LIKE this one WAY better then the 1st. I love how they are both looking out in the distance :) no funny facial expressions :)
3) That kind of horse fencing is super easy to clone out. I think it would def make this image better without the fencing :) I also think you have way too much dead space above them. (but im also still working on comp)
4) Its ok. Very centered. and the horse was def blinking one eye is open one is kinda open. You should stand more to the left or right and have the horses head turned towards you so you can get both eyes at you. Instead of having it look like an eye is popping out of the side :) The barrel is kind of distracting too lol and you got a bit of a shadow going on there :)

I like these much better then the 1st set :) Keep on shootin :)

Of the first set I really like #1. It may sound funny, but to me, it looks like a really pleasing snapshot. It doesn't quite look like a "photograph", but like a very talented photographer taking a snapshot... if that makes sense. I guess this photo feels so natural, but is still pleasing to the eye which is a rare capture IMO.
