I like #2 and #3 best. #1 would be better if you had the sun at a better angle. That way it would have better shadows on the ground (IMO). #2 makes me feel like it is a harsh enviroment and only the strong will survive. #3 is my favorite, it kind of draws me into it. Very well done (IMO)
I think #3 has something really going for it. It's about a half to 2/3rds a stop underexposed (fixable in post) and could use a de-hazing and a boost in contrast and perhaps a shade more saturation. In terms of composition, it's a really nice image to look at.
I'll tell you up front that I probably went a bit overboard on this edit (+1 stop exposure, S-curve adjustment, 20/60/0 unsharp mask faded to 20%, +25 boost to master saturation) but something inbetween what I did and where the original image would give it some nice punch:
