Haven't posted in awhile... Thought I would share this photo of my nephew.
Just got a new to me Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS and am very excited to use it, this was one of my test shots.
F8, 1/250th, ISO 100
Had a flash bouncing into a reflective umbrella camera right with a reflector on other side right next to him

Way too dark! Same settings, ISO 200 or 400, and this would be quite nice.

There's probably something wrong with the crop, too, evidently you're not supposed to crop at joints (wrists, here) and I admit it looks a little bad. Re-crop to mid-forearm, and lighten it up a bunch. Try just brightening it up in photoshop or whatever you use, fool around with some curves adjustments or whatever, you'll see what I mean.

Cute kid, focus looks good. Lighting looks decent, pose is decent. You got a lot of stuff right!

ETA: something like this. The colors are a little whacked. Not sure if that's just the radical lightening in post, or because the color balance is funky in the original.
