Is the screw in head of a cable shutter release standard across different camera makers? In other words, could I use a cable shutter release made by Olympus on my Nikon FE?

yes, they are a standard size

My Nikon F2 requires an adaptor to attach a standard cable release.

Boston_Brother,

Did you find a solution? I am also looking for a cable shutter release for my FE and unsure of compatibility.

Do let me know if the Olympus cable works, and if so, would you mind giving me the model number?

Many thanks,

Crofi_Annan

I bought the Olympus cable shutter release and it works just fine. I believe that for the older SLR that don't have the capability of a remote shutter, any cable shutter release will work. As for a part number, I couldn't find a part number on my cable.

Hope this helps you out.

I've had a look around at cables from other manufacturers but in keeping with the rest of my kit, I'd like to get hold of a cable shutter release that was originally supplied with an FE.

Can anyone out there tell me the product ID/code/identifier of the original cable?

Thanks!

The FE didn't come with a cable release as I recall. I don't think any of the
Nikon film SLRs did.
