Hi all,

the local supermarket had some potted Calla lilies in stock the other day, so I picked up a sneaky plant along with my sausages... :p

I had a crack at photographing these, but I've got a loooooot to learn about artificial lighting - it's a bit trickier than I thought!

Here's my setup:

Nikon D70, tripod mounted
Tamron 90mm macro lens (love this badboy!)
3 x clip-on desk lamps
SB-600, wireless, with orange homemade filter to balance with the lamps
Black velvety background (or foliage)
Table top
2 home made plamp-style clamps
9" lastolite Reflector
one freshly purchased calla lily plant :)

Here's the pics - any tips on how to improve would be much appreciated :)

Photo 2 is my personal winner of this entire series.
And the runner-up is the last!

Your light set-up sounds intriguing, not that I would understand it completely ... but it sounds good and also looks good from what we can see here.

Thanks La,

I enjoyed taking these - also enjoyed farting about with all the lights. :)

I can't really claim to understand the light setup myself... i took a LOT of pictures with different settings to see what worked, and these were the best of 'em :)
