I am looking for recommendations on a zoom camera lens for a Nikon d3300. I would like to be able to do landscape photos.

What lens(es) do you have now, and what do you want it (them) to do that you're not able to do?

Any lens will work at a 'fair distance away' as they all will focus to infinity. Can I assume you mean you're looking for a telephoto?

The tamron 70-300 USD vc is good for its price, pretty much on par with nikons 70-300 vr

If your budget allows, either the Tamrom 70-300 VC or Nikkor 70-300 VR. Otherwise, the Nikkor 55-200.

I agree with this, but will add that if you go for the Nikon 55-200 get the "VR" version.

The consumer grade Tamron 70-300mm VC lens is not bad for the price.

Here an image taken with that lens (Canon version)
