camera malfunction

i have a sony cybershot dsc-p32 and i was wondering if anyone could help me fix a problem i have beenhaving with it lately. If i turn the camera on the slide over the lens doesnt open up, and on the lcd screen it says to turn it on and off again, so i do that and still the slide wont move, if i movie it with my finger, i can see everything on the lcd screen so its obviously a problem with the slide or w.e , SO any suggestions on how to fix that? its not a big deal since i am getting a nikon d50 in a week or so :mrgreen: but this is kind of the family camera so i still want to see if i can fix it

Ram a screwdriver in it and see if you can pry it open. NO! DONT'T!! Could it be battery related? Is it still under warranty? Is there something obvious blocking it from opening?

its not battery related i jsut bought new ones , ive pretty much given up on it since its old and beat up so i might just try the screwdriver
