Camera Noise?

Hi i have a canon 30d that i bought recently used. I have noticed that sometimes when it starts to focus it makes a pretty loud ERREEEEE noise. It sounds like something is wrong. Does this seem familiar to anyone?

That is the sound of the autofocus motor. It's normal.

depends what lens you use.

if it is an USM lens then you should not hear anything loud. if you use a sigma 24-70, expect an electric toothbrush sound

The sound you are describing comes from the lens, which has a focusing motor that accomplishes your autofocus. Your camera is not making the noise.

I know that the lens makes noise but this is not the regular focus noise it is much louder and it sounds just wrong. It does not do this everytme i focus just sometimes
