can anyone tell me what this light is ? could i get a similar look with an elinchrom head / reflector with diffusion on it ?

A similar look as far as how the light itself is built? I don't get it. You can't see what effect the light is having on the subject.

It looks like a Smith-Victor reflector...the logo is Smith-Victor. It looks like some kind of quartz light, with a roughly 8 inch reflector on it, and a white, nylon "sock" style diffuser. The light appears to be off...

You should be able to get similar light from a monolight flash with diffuser sock on it.

Check out the price of flash tubes - my Speedotrons run around $75-100 for 1200 w/s tubes; PF? $500+!!! :shock:
