Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
So, I originally signed a contract with a client for the purchase of 15 images. She shows up with the check, but upon seeing the images, declares she loves them all and "wants them all".

All is 102 photos.

She wants me to include them, free of charge. This has been a VERY difficult customer, in the fact that she wants everything her way, or no way.

My question is... What would you deem the appropriate price for a FULL day of shooting (5AM til 6PM, minus 11AM-2PM), and 102 photos. I am a semi-pro.

Please, can someone just give me an idea of a fair price for 100 photos, full day of shooting, semi-pro. I've never had a client so fussy and obstinate. I am trying to keep things amicable. Thank you!!

She can want in one hand and...well. Contract binds her to pay you, if she wants the rest of the images, she can buy those, too.

Amicable is what pushy people count on to take advantage of nice folks. Don't be a victim.

Free? haha! What's wrong with people?

I have no idea what you should charge, really only you know that answer. If it were me I'd want 5 times whatever was promised for the 15 shots.

What were you going to charge her for the 15 images?

What did you do? I mean, it sounds like this all went down already ... so what did you tell her?

Croissant and Trever -- Thank you for the advice. This is the push I need!

O -- I told her I needed to think on it. I originally charged $25/final, edited photograph. Which is actually a high res digital neg given on a disc.

Why would you show 102 images if the contract was for 15? Certainly a small percentage beyond the 15 would potentially induce more sales, but I have to ask if you invested time editing all 102. If so.... Why? Are they all print worthy?

Kundalini -- There were 100 good shots from the day, so I edited them all, to let her choose her top 15.

**edit**
Typically, my clients respect that they paid for a certain amount, and choose their top shots.

You don't have to be nasty to stand up for yourself, your work, or your principles. I deal with people every day who think that being mean to me will compel me to give them free stuff, and it has a 0% success rate.:lmao:

Yeah, I definitely would not give in to her. Of course sell her the other shots if she wants them, but sell them. You could maybe offer her a 'bulk discount' to make her feel better about having to pay for all the extra stuff. (And, I guess, also increase the likelihood that she will buy them...)

Well, that puts it at $1.67 per shot if my calculator is working properly. 100 shots would be $167 in simple math.

Tell her if she wants the rest of the images, it'll be a fat round $150. If she balks, refer her to the pricing structure used by every other photographer in town.

I read that as $25 PER finished photo...

Pretty big difference depending on which it is...

Yes, $25 PER finished photo. :)
I am thinking I will throw some extras in for free, like 5.
Then, the rest, will have to be paid for. She has to respect that this is my business. :/
