Hey there, I shot this family on a pretty bright and shiny day. Is there anything I can do to save his head from melting into the sky? What can I do with my settings to prevent this next time? Thanks for your help!

Looks like it's completely gone...although, it's not really that bad...the expressions are good and the rest of them is well exposed.

As for what you can do to prevent this...get out of the direct sunlight. If you had exposed for the top part of his head, the front of them would be practically in silhouettes.

You could try underexposing and then blasting them with flash. You would probably need a small aperture to get the exposure (keeping the shutter speed at the max sync)...so you would need a rather powerful burst of flash.
