hey, i was just wondering what peoples thoughts were in regards to the 1000d and the 450d.

is is worth the extra bucks to get the 450? or would it be better to get the 1000 and get a few lenses and or accessories?

also what would be the best things to get after the kit? as i was looking at the twin is kit for both.

thanks
Timothy

I'm considering the 1000d as well, which would be my first DSLR. The low-end Canons look like they beat the competition soundly in low-light/high-ISO performance, which is an important factor for me - and the 50mm f1.8 looks like a good pairing for this.

I guess whether the 450d justifies the extra cost depends on the kind of photography you're planning?

Canon EOS 1000D / Rebel XS Review: 2. Comparison: Digital Photography Review

They look to be very similar, one of the most noticeable differences being the larger screen on the 450D.

If you are going to put the extra money into accessories, then I'd suggest that the less expensive camera is the way to go. But many people would easily pay the extra, just for a larger screen.

Some good accessories to get would be;
a good camera bag
tripod
circular polarizing filter
extra batteries & memory cards
hot shoe flash
