Hi, im looking at taking a degree in photography and am looking at a good dslr to get me through, i have a canon eos slr and have completed a local college course in photoraphy and am now looking to step it up.

at the moment im looking at the Canon 400d slr, does anyone know of a better choice for my needs or would this be the best choice, id ideally like to stay with canon and i dont really wanna spend more than £600.00 for body and lense.

    Thank you

    Hayley ;)

The 400D is a good, entry level, DSLR.

What film EOS model to you have? If you have one of the Rebel models (3 or 4 digit name)...then you should feel pretty comfortable with the 400D. If, however, you have a more upscale body like an ELAN (two digit name)...then you may want to look at an upscale digital body like the 20D or 30D, as it would be more comparable.

The best thing to do, would be to go into a store and hold the different cameras, the 400D is rather small...too small for some. The 30D is bigger and heavier but the controls are laid out better.
