I have a canon 5D mark III which lens is good for air show?

Is the 600 mm to much of a lens for air show?

Some context for you.

This was taken from a municipal park located within a former military airfield turned municipal general aviation airport with a Tamron 70-210mm on an APS-C camera, so call it 336mm full-frame equivalent:

I've scaled it from 6000x4000 to 1920x1280, but have not cropped it in any way.

I couldn't say how close you would be to the action, but all around this park is aircraft parking tarmac. The runway was on the other side of a row of buildings and presumably more tarmac.

A 150-600 zoom might be a better option.
