Canon D60 Flash

I have the Canon D60 and I am experiencing a problem with the built in flash.

When I switch on and depress the shutter the flash fails to pop up and I get error 05 message.

Nothing is obstructing the flash.

Normally I use the 550EX Flashgun but wanted to use the built in today and it will not pop up.

Anyone else experienced this problem

Error 05 is 'pop up flash obstructed'

My guess would be that the release mechanism is sticky or faulty. Maybe you could carefully get it to open by moving it around or trying to manually trip the catch. Then check it to see if it's moving freely or in need of some lubrication or repair.

Yes I used a cotton bud and cleaned all around the seam and case and it appears to be working.

Looking at other forums this appears to be a common problem.
